The use of vegetable oils and the knowledge of its healing properties date back to the first civilizations, being considered one of the oldest forms of medicine and cosmetics.

Vegetable oils for cosmetics

In dermocosmetics vegetable oils such as almond, rosehip, tamanu or jojoba, obtained by first cold pressing are used. However, a different procedure to obtain the vegetable active ingredients is required for those plants that do not produce oil when pressed. We are talking about the macerated oils such as calendula, arnica or St. John’s wort.

Vegetable oils differ from one another in their fatty acid profile, which gives them different nourishing, moisturizing, softening, regenerating and protective properties.
